Brailey & John
Brailey & John’s Romantic Maui Engagement Session at Pō‘ōlenalena Beach.
Some love stories become even more meaningful when life takes an unexpected turn. Earlier this year, Brailey and John were preparing to say “I do,” with every detail thoughtfully planned and their excitement growing by the day. We had even shared a beautiful and memorable wedding rehearsal together. But during that rehearsal—the day before their wedding—we could already feel that the storm was coming and knew it was going to hit hard. As the Kona Low moved closer to the islands, their plans had to change. Still, even a powerful storm could not change the love that brought Brailey and John to this moment.
A day they had waited and prepared for had to be postponed. I can only imagine the disappointment and emotions that came with having to reschedule such an important celebration. But if there is one thing their story proves, it is this: a storm may change the date, but it cannot stop a wedding, a promise, or a love meant to be celebrated.
In many ways, this has become a wedding-planning story they will never forget. Years from now, Brailey and John will be able to look back and remember the wedding that was postponed by a storm—but never stopped by one. Their celebration simply became something even more meaningful: a reminder of patience, resilience, and choosing each other through every unexpected turn.
I was so happy to offer them another engagement session, not only to celebrate their new wedding date, but also because I truly love photographing this couple. Their connection is so effortless, their love feels genuine, and they have a way of making every moment together feel easy, joyful, and real.
We returned to Pō‘ōlenalena Beach, the same place where we photographed their first engagement session, and it was so special to capture that familiar magic all over again—this time with even more love, joy, and anticipation for the beautiful wedding day ahead. Because Brailey and John are already familiar with my photography style and direction, the session flowed so naturally. There was no need to overthink anything—just laughter, quiet embraces, playful moments, and the kind of connection that makes photographing love stories so meaningful.
The first time I packed my gear to photograph their original wedding day, I was incredibly excited. Now, with their new wedding date ahead, I am even more excited to capture the celebration they have waited for and truly deserve.
Brailey and John, your wedding day is going to be amazing. It will be filled with all the beautiful details, heartfelt vows, and unforgettable moments you dreamed of—but it will also hold an even greater story: the story of two people whose love endured the storm and continued toward the day they have been waiting for.
