The Warren Family’s First Maui Portrait Session.

There is something especially magical about an early-morning session at Pō‘ōlenalena Beach in Wailea—soft light, peaceful shoreline, and the feeling that the beach is all yours. It was the perfect setting for the Warren family’s first official family portraits together.

Melia and Nick were visiting Maui from the Pacific Northwest with their adorable little boy, Christopher. Starting before the day fully woke up gave us a quiet, relaxed stretch of sand to play on, laugh together, and capture this sweet season of their family’s story.

Christopher was an absolute cutie—barefoot in the sand, curious about the water, and completely happy exploring the beach. Those little, in-between moments are always some of my favorites to photograph: tiny feet in the sand, big smiles, and the joy of a child simply being a child.

Maui is very meaningful to our family,” Melia shared. “My dad was raised here, and we couldn’t wait to bring our son here.

A Family Vacation Memory.

What made this session even more meaningful was having Christopher’s grandparents there to join in. A Maui vacation is already full of special memories, but taking the time to document three generations together turns those moments into something they can hold onto for years to come.

I always love getting to know the families I photograph. Keeping a session relaxed is so important, and a little conversation and laughter often help everyone feel comfortable in front of the camera. During our time together, I learned that Melia’s dad is originally from Maui—and, in one of those wonderful small-world moments, he once lived within walking distance of our family home.

It was such a lovely morning with the Warren family. I’m so grateful I got to meet them, share a few stories and laughs, and capture this beautiful first chapter of their family portrait journey here on Maui.
