Kindra & James
This session was truly a special one. Photographing a secret proposal is undeniably challenging—there’s the careful placement, finding the right angle, and above all, making sure we don’t get caught. These elements can make it a nerve-wracking experience for a photographer. But the reward when it all comes together is incredibly fulfilling.
Cannon Beach that day was filled with beachgoers soaking up the sun and enjoying the ocean breeze. Amidst the lively atmosphere, my attention was fully directed toward capturing a truly special moment—the proposal of James to Kindra. James and I spent months meticulously planning his proposal to Kindra. Our strategy unfolded through countless phone calls, endless emails, and detailed Google Maps marked with arrows showing exactly where everyone would be and when.
Kindra came to Oregon with her family to visit Cannon Beach, completely unaware that James was also flying in with his family to the very same spot. The moment held two surprises: first, James’s unexpected arrival, and second, the proposal itself.
To keep James hidden, Kindra’s brother-in-law played a crucial role. He kept Kindra distracted by taking photos of her, carefully positioning her so she wasn’t looking toward where James was approaching.
And then came the unforgettable moment—James dropped to one knee, and Kindra said yes! From there, we captured more intimate photos celebrating their love and the beautiful new chapter they were beginning.
